The Asbury boys’ and girls’ basketball teams picked up home wins against J.B. Pennington Tuesday night.

The boys won 71-46 with Jay Jones having a big game scoring 24 points and Mathew Wilson adding 15 points and pulling down 9 rebounds. Maurisio Zurita had 9 points and Zach Adams scored 8.

The Rams only led Pennington 23-19 at half but steadily pulled away in the third and fourth quarters. Asbury will travel to Plainview for the first round of the Class 3A Region 14 tournament as the No. 3 seed on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 6 p.m.

The girls dominated the game against Pennington from the opening tip. At the half, the Lady Rams led 26-6. Alexis Adams recorded a double/double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Sheyla Pacheco added 13 points.

The Lady Rams will travel to Plainview for the first round of the Class 3A Region 14 tournament as the No. 4 seed on Monday, Feb 8 at 6 p.m.
