The Guntersville Wildcats picked up two big wins over county foes at the end of last week.
On Thursday, they knocked off Boaz 2-1. Then, on Friday, the Wildcats defeated Asbury 16-0.
Against Boaz, a Chandler Hampton walk-off RBI gave Guntersville the 2-1 in extra innings. The Pirates struck first in the 1st inning with one run. That would be the last time they crossed the plate in the game.
Guntersville got on the board in the 3rd inning but couldn’t muster enough offense the rest of the way to get the win in seven innings.
Kade Wilson pitched all eight innings for the Wildcats against Boaz. He threw 18 first pitch strikes and recorded eight strikeouts.
The Wildcats then hosted the Asbury Rams and had a very big afternoon at the plate.
Guntersville started the game with five runs in the first inning, three runs in the second and eight in the fourth inning. Chase Cornelius pitched for the Wildcats and struck out four batters.
The Wildcats traveled to Scottsboro on Monday and traveled again to Brewer on Tuesday. They were 5-7 on the season before Monday night.
