DAR's basketball teams lost a couple of close ones to Ft. Payne last Thursday. 

DAR Girls 49, Ft. Payne 60

The DAR varsity girls couldn't recover from a 12 point halftime deficit in the loss to the Fort Payne Lady Wildcats last Thursday in Grant. Fort Payne led at all the stops. Quarter scored were 17-9; 32-20 and 45-32. The Lady Patriots got balanced scoring with Lizzie Hammett leading the way with 10 points. Ella Morrison followed with 9 while Kate Boiln, Caitlyn O'Neal and Lauren Buchanan finished with 8 each.

DAR Boys 46, Fort Payne 49

The Patriots suffered their first loss of the season after getting off to a slow start against the Wildcats. Fort Payne led 7-3 at the end of the opening quarter and 24-13 at the half. DAR battled back to tie the game at 32 with less than a minute left in the 3rd before two turnovers resulted in a 4 point lead for the Wildcats to make the score 36-32 heading to the final period. The Patriots had a chance to send the game to overtime, but a 3-point attempt came up short at the buzzer. A.J. McCamey led DAR with 18 points.
