The DAR Patriots dropped their second straight Class 4A Region 7 game in Stevenson last Friday night falling to the North Jackson Chiefs 53-6. The Patriots are now 0-2 in region play and 0-3 overall. The Chiefs improved to 2-0 and 2-1.
North Jackson dominated on both sides of the ball making it hard for DAR to have much success. The only negative statistic for the Chiefs was the amount of penalties which coincides with their style of play. However, that statistic didn't have any affect on the final results Friday night.
After DAR turned the ball over on downs on the first possession of the game, North Jackson needed just three plays to stick it in the endzone on a 22-yard touchdown pass from Dalton Morris to Brady Cunningham to put the home team up 7-0 with 9:03 left in the 1st quarter.
Myron Walton increased the lead to 14-0 with a 1-yard run early in the 2nd quarter. Walton added a 5-yard touchdown run to go along with 12-yard rushing TD by Morris later in the quarter to extend the lead to 27-0 with 3:55 to go in the half. Morris then added a 35-yard touchdown pass to Cunningham just before the half to put the Chiefs up 34-0 at intermission.
North Jackson found the endzone twice in the 3rd quarter on a 54-yard pass from Morris to Cunningham followed a couple minutes later with a 54-yard pick-6 by Earnest Wilson to make the score 46-0.
The Patriots got on the board with 11:24 remaining in the game when Trey Bolt lofted a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jonah Sutton.
The Chiefs added a 21-yard touchdown run with 9:30 remaining in the game for the final score of the evening.
The highlight of the night for the Patriot offense was Bolt's touchdown pass to Sutton. Brady Largen was the leading ground gainer with 39 yards on 12 carries. On defense for DAR, Collin Cantrell was in on 10 tackles followed by Seth Satterfield and Zane Stewart with 5 each.
These were the stats:
Yards Passing 4-10-2 27
Total Yards 89
1st Downs 6
Yards Passing 7-7-0 174
Total Yards 296
1st Downs 8
After opening the season with a very tough 3 game stretch including Fairview, Madison Academy and North Jackson, the Patriots are still looking for that 1st win. They hope to get in the win column this week when they travel to Huntsville Friday night for another region game. Kickoff is set for 7:00 on the campus of Westminster Christian Academy.
