Both Guntersville's boys and girls finished area soccer competition Thursday night with both beating Boaz at home before huge crowds. The girls dominated Boaz from start to finish winning 5-0.
" The defense was flawless and the offense was good, a total team effort," Coach Mike Jones said. "We passed the ball around as good as we have all year, creating many scoring opportunities."
Ashley Zieset, Lanie Willis, Miranda Valencia, Hannah Burwick and Anna Moore all had goals. The girls and boys both went a perfect 10-0 in area play winning the area and moving on to the playoffs over the next couple of weeks.
The girls totally dominated the area, outscoring area opponents an amazing 72 goals to 1.
"Our first round playoff game will be against Russellville and, then, if we win, we play the winner of Arab vs East Limestone," Coach Jones said. "The winner then goes to final four. These girls have worked so hard for years. If we can just do a little more work these next two weeks, we have a shot at it.
"This Tuesday, we scheduled a tough game against an old rival, Randolph. This game will toughen us up and get us ready for what we will see in playoffs," Coach Jones said.Â
