Guntersville's 7th grade boys opened the county tournament Saturday at Asbury High School, taking on the Arab Knights. Arab had twice fallen to the Wildcats by wide margins during the regular season, so the Knights came into the game with something to prove.

Arab put pressure on the 'Cats early, and kept the first half close, with Guntersville up 11-9 at the end of the first quarter. Arab briefly took the lead during the second quarter, and finished the first half down only two, 18-16. Guntersville coach Jordan Shelton's halftime pep-talk seemed to wake up the 'Cats, as they got into a groove in the second half, and extended its lead to 35-22 at the end of three. Although the Knights fought valiantly, the Wildcats wouldn't relinquish their lead and closed out the Knights 44-31.

Guntersville scoring:

Ford Ronca - 22 pts.

Will Davis - 8 pts.

Hunter Holdambeck - 6 pts.

Jayce Taylor - 6 pts.

Rylan Wilson - 2 pts.
