Jadyn Bonds

Jadyn Bonds finished 1st in the girls high jump at the Class 5A Section 4 track meet in Guntersville last weekend. 

More than 20 Guntersville track athletes earned the opportunity to compete in the AHSAA State Track Meet, which began yesterday (Friday) in Gulf Shores.

Last week, Guntersville High School hosted the Class 5A Section 4 meet with 15 teams represented. As a result of their efforts, these Wildcat athletes qualified for the state meet:

Boys

Dewayne Hundley - 200 Dash, 400 Dash, High Jump, Long Jump

Lane Pilotte - 800 Run, 3200 Run

Ashton Payne - 4x400 Relay

William Barkley - 110 Hurdles, 300 Hurdles, 4x400 Relay

Luke Ausley - 4x400 Relay

Royce Baucom - Shot Put

Taylor King - 4x400 Relay

Girls

Jayden Watkins - 100 Dash, 200 Dash, High Jump, Triple Jump

Lauren Barrentine - 4x800 Relay

Kenlie Nelson - 4x800 Relay, 1600 Run, 3200 Run

Ursula Rice - Discus, Shot Put

Kelcie Davis - Javelin

Anna Waldrop - 4x400 Relay

Annelise Bradshaw - 4x800 Relay, 4x400 Relay

Abigail Chastain - Discus

Jaydn Bonds - Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump

Chelsea Saucedo - 4x800 Relay

Nayeli Escobedo - 4x400 Relay

Baylee Bonds - 4x100 Relay

Anna Newman - 4x100 Relay, 100 Hurdles, 300 Hurdles

Hannah Lane - 4x100 Relay, 100 Hurdles, 300 Hurdles

Amiyah Hampton - 4x400 Relay

She’Londa Wellington - 4x100 Relay, 4x400 Relay

The Wildcats had several runners finish at or near the top in several different events.

Jayden Watkins finished 2nd in the 100-meter run, the high jump and triple jump. Jadyn Bonds finished 1st in the high jump, Abbie Cagle finished 1st in the pole vault and Kelcie Davis finished 1st in the javelin. The girls relay team finished 2nd in the 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800.

For the boys, Dewayne Hundley finished 1st in the 400-meter run, 3rd in the 200-meter, 2nd in the long jump and 4th in the high jump. William Barkley finished 4th in the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles and Royce Baucom finished 4th in shotput.

Results from the state meet will be in Wednesday’s paper.
